Chuck frowns at his phone for a moment before rolling out of his bed and searching the Waverider for the Warlock. Well, it's not so much of a search when Gideon tells him where he can find the man and that seriously takes some getting used to.

"I honestly thought Gideon was fucking with me. She said it was a god or something at some point."

"Oh if Gideon was going to mess with you, you'd know it."

Unlikely Mister Constantine.

He snorts, unscrewing the flask from his pocket and taking a nip before offering it over to Chuck. "Near as I recall from the stories it was a talking toy that fell through time. Collection of rather dim-witted Vikings thought it was some sort of god until the team here," not his team, "set things back to rights."

Seriously, still weird.

Taking the offered flask, Chuck scowls and takes a sip, dropping into the chair opposite John and handing the drink back.

“The more I hear of this place, the weirder it sounds. And I fought giant kaiju that came out of the sea in an equally giant jaeger.”

"welcome to life on the Waverider," he finds another bottle, sketching a vague salute as he goes over everything scattered along the table in the office.

"Hand me that knife will you?" As John fishes out a pendant from one of his seemingly endless pockets.

“Mate, it’s not just the Waverider that’s weird. Honestly. That’s probably the least weird thing. Technology that no one gets? Kinda my thing.” He hadn’t just gotten into a Jaeger at 16 because he was stubborn. He knew his way around a machine and, if given the chance, he’d figure out how the Waverider and Gideon worked in no time at all. “This whole damn world is weird. For one, it’s not mostly destroyed and made uninhabitable by alien blood that poisons everything it touches.”

Grabbing the knife, he hands it over, watching John curiously. “What’s that for?”

"Well we all have our crosses to bear," a rakish smile as he takes the knife. "No aliens back on my Earth but there does happen to be a raging proxy war between heaven and hell going on. More collateral damage than you'd imagine."

He drags the knife along the outside of his forearm, a shallow cut to draw just enough blood.

"Blood magic mate. Now mine may not be poison but it does get the job done," a wink as he lets the drops fall along the table.

"Also not a thing I've ever really had to deal with." It's easy to watch John even if he has absolutely no idea what the other man is doing.

"Righto. But why? What's it doing?" And there it was, the need to understand and learn, coming through to the forefront as he studies the actions.

"Primal power in blood, tracking spell like this needs some serious firepower behind it if we're going to find our next target." His fingers spread out, eyes rolling back as he starts to speak in a quiet and harsh-sounding language.

The blood drops flare red and then orange before burning small holes into the map. John shakes out a cigarette and reaches for his drink. "There now. Right as rain."
